Incrustations are fillings made in our laboratory. This type of treatment is a traditional method for tooth restoration and it solves major tooth problems or fills the cracks.
There two types of dental incrustations: Inlays and Onlays.
Inlays are dental reconstruction parts necessary for the repair of 1 or 2 walls of the same tooth, an occlusion one and an inter-dental one. The Inlay method has the same colour as the tooth and thus no differences will be noticed and the result will be satisfactory.
Onlays repair the tooth side vestibular wall and it covers between 2 and 4 tooth walls. They do not have the same destination as Inlays since they are more resistant and they cover a larger surface. Onlays are also known as partial crowns since they cover a larger surface, but not completely, as dental crowns do.
These treatments are preferred by patients for the replacement of unaesthetic fillings since they replicate the tooth’s natural colour. In some cases, incrustations provide the dental tissues remaining after eliminating tooth decay. It has several advantages, also presented in this article and depending on your problems, the dentist may recommend this treatment and offer you visible and satisfactory results.
